This month's featured Unit: TROOP 266
Troop 266 of Peebles, recently attended the 17th Annual Put-In-Bay Boy Scout Camporee, sponsored by Troop 360 of Port Clinton, Ohio. Put In Bay is located on South Bass Island, in Lake Erie. South Bass Island is made up of 1,382 acres, and is 3 and a half miles long by 1 and a half miles wide. The camporee was home to over 1500 Scouts on Sept 7-9. Scouts camped out underneath the historical Perry's Voctory and International Peace Memorial. Held each year on the island's Historic Weekend, this year's Camporee offered a War of 1812 military encampment, with musket and cannon firing demonstrations, a Grand Parade, which included the Scouts, area and local dignitaries, several high school bands and island antique and classic cars. Other activities include tours of Perry's Memorial, the Heineman Winery and Crystal Caves, Perry's Cave, a round of golf at the War of 18 Put-Put Course, a visit to South Bass Island State Park and Beach and historic South Bass Island Lighthouse. Musical entertainment was provided by the Toledo Symphony Orchestra's rendition of the 1812 Overture.

TROOP 171
Our patrol of new Scouts completed their first hike Saturday, January 20. They hiked 5 miles on the Triangle Bicycle Trail between Frankfort and Chillicothe, Ohio. The hike started at the Mound City parking lot and went to the old train trestle bridge with an overlook of the creek. Here they ate a snack and returned to the parking lot.
